Edition context & specification answers

The answers below are web commentary added to the original edition. They distinguish design recommendations from substantiated market evidence.

What is the Irish kitchen-industry context for October 2026?

The CSO's latest published completions quarter checked on 18 October 2026 was Q2: 8,823 new dwellings, down 3.6% year on year. Within that total, scheme dwellings increased 2% to 4,738 and apartments fell 12.2% to 2,658. Different dwelling types moved in different directions. These figures describe completed homes, not kitchen installations, renovation spending or LHS sales.

Do planning approvals mean new kitchen orders are imminent?

No. The CSO recorded permission for 11,912 dwelling units in Q2 2026, up 60% year on year, and cautions that large developments can cause substantial quarterly variation. Approval is not construction, completion or a purchase order. For a fit-out business, it is a pipeline-monitoring signal, not a guaranteed order volume or delivery timetable.

What depth is a kitchen worktop?

There is no single depth for every worktop. Mica Post's Leading Edge supplier schedule lists 600 mm-deep worktops and 670 mm or 900 mm-deep breakfast bars, with dimensions dependent on decor and thickness. Its Post Form range has a separate size schedule. Sheet depth is not cabinet depth: confirm front overhang, wall condition, appliance positions and the chosen sheet's listed LHS code before fabrication.

Mica Post Leading Edge sheet-size schedule

How do I choose a worktop thickness and edge profile?

Choose the appearance and functional combination together. Mica Post lists 38 mm Post Form; Leading Edge includes 38 mm, 28 mm and 20 mm options subject to decor. Topform is represented in the LHS manufacturer index with 25 mm and 40 mm ranges, but that does not mean both thicknesses exist for every colour. The individual decor page and confirmed variant govern the specification; do not infer an unlisted size from the manufacturer overview.

Compare worktop manufacturers, decors and confirmed sizes

Can I fit an undermount or Belfast sink to a Mica Post laminate worktop?

Mica Post expressly states that its Leading Edge and postformed worktops are suited to insert sinks, and that undermount and Belfast sinks are not suitable for those ranges. A marble-effect laminate is not a stone slab. Select the sink mounting method before approving the surface and cut-out; follow the manufacturer's installation and sealing requirements.

How do fitted worktop pictures relate to the actual product?

The LHS fitted Kitchen and Island pictures are illustrative room views. They help compare the decor in context but are not physical samples, fabrication drawings or proof of true pattern scale. Confirm appearance against the real sample and check the listed edge, dimensions and code separately.

Which Cemux drawer details should go on a specification?

Record the drawer family, side height, nominal length, finish, compatible components and load rating. In the LHS range, A3201 is an 84 mm A box drawer and H1303 is a 167 mm H box drawer; both list 40 kg loading, soft-close and full extension. H1303 lists grey lengths of 350, 400, 450 and 500 mm. A higher rating mentioned for another runner must not be assigned to these configurations.

Check Cemux A box and H box product tables

How should a hinge be coordinated with an internal pull-out?

Check the hinge's actual opening geometry, door protrusion and clearance against the internal fitting. Opening angle alone does not establish that a drawer or pull-out can pass the door. Confirm the cabinet overlay or inset arrangement, mounting plate and the fitting manufacturer's clearance requirements. Do not label a hinge 'zero protrusion' unless the specific product documentation supports it.

Review supplied hinges and technical opening details

What measurements matter for cabinet storage and handles?

Storage hardware must suit internal width, depth, opening clearances and intended load, not just the exterior cabinet dimensions. For handles, fixing centres are the distance between screw holes, not the overall handle length. Record the selected finish and code separately; matching appearance across ranges does not establish mechanical compatibility.

Compare storage fittings and cabinet requirements

Can every Quooker tap be ordered in every finish?

No. Finish availability is model-specific. LHS lists Flex in polished chrome, stainless steel, black, gunmetal and rose copper; Classic Fusion lists polished chrome, stainless steel and patinated brass. A finish shown elsewhere in the Quooker catalogue is not proof it exists for the selected model. Preserve any catalogue qualifiers and confirm the exact tap before ordering.

What should be planned before fitting a Quooker?

Quooker Ireland's installation criteria specify a 13 A earthed socket below the sink, at least 2 bar cold-water pressure and water and power services within 50 cm of the installation location, with extension kits available for longer distances. Confirm the selected system's current instructions, tank space, service access and local requirements with a competent installer; this brief is not an installation manual.

How do I avoid mixing incompatible cabinet-lighting components?

Specify the fitting and driver as a system: voltage, rated load, connectors, control or sensor type and installation environment must agree. A similar plug or product name is not enough. The LHS code SPLLEDTRANSFORMER50W has a description referring to 60W; that conflict is flagged for confirmation rather than treated as either a verified 50W or 60W rating.

Search lighting codes and explicit specification notes

Is a professional spray finish an ordinary DIY kitchen paint?

The LHS Sherwin-Williams page describes professional trade finishes for spray application. Use a ventilated spray booth, the appropriate protective equipment and the specific product's safety data sheet. The finish system, substrate preparation and application conditions must be checked for the chosen coating; do not treat a professional lacquer listing as a universal brush-on household paint.

Review professional paints, lacquers and the safety note

Are drawers, handles or worktops covered by SEAI energy grants?

They are not listed energy-upgrade measures on SEAI's individual home energy grants page. General references to retrofit activity do not establish funding for kitchen fixtures. Check the applicable measure, property rules and grant approval before committing eligible energy work; keep kitchen-hardware pricing separate from any grant claim.

Check current SEAI individual grant measures

Where can Irish kitchen makers check LHS codes and technical details?

Light Hardware Supplies is based at Kilkeary, Nenagh, Co. Tipperary, E45 F227, Ireland. Its specialist pages publish supplied-range codes and specification information for drawers, hinges, handles, worktops, sinks and taps, storage, lighting and professional finishes. Use those pages for the selected product and contact sales@lhs.ie to resolve uncertain dimensions, availability or compatibility. No live stock or trade prices are published in this brief.

LIGHT HARDWARE SUPPLIES
MARKET BRIEF / OCTOBER 2026 / IRELAND

Specify the Whole Kitchen
Evidence-led decisions, from worktop depth to drawer movement.

01 / IRISH HOUSING CONTEXT
CSO recorded 7,856 dwelling completions in Q1 2026 (+32.9% year on year) and 8,823 in Q2 (-3.6%). Different quarterly
directions do not establish uninterrupted growth. Completions measure new homes, not kitchen orders, refurbishment
spending or hardware sales. Source: CSO Q1 and Q2 2026 releases, 30 April and 30 July 2026.

02 / WORKTOP DEPTH IS A SPECIFICATION, NOT A GUESS
Mica Post Leading Edge lists 600 mm-deep worktops and 670 / 900 mm-deep breakfast bars, subject to decor and
thickness. Post Form has its own size schedule. Supplier sheet dimensions and the installed cabinet depth are different
measurements. Check the selected decor, edge profile, thickness and actual LHS code before fabrication.

03 / THE SINK MUST SUIT THE SURFACE
Mica Post states its Leading Edge and postformed worktops are suited to insert sinks; undermount and Belfast sinks are
not suitable for those ranges. A stone-effect laminate is not a stone slab. Coordinate the sink type, cut-out and sealing
instructions before choosing the worktop. Source: micapost.com/leading-edge/.

04 / SPECIFY MOTION AND LIGHTING AS SYSTEMS
LHS lists Cemux A3201 H84 and H1303 H167 drawers with 40 kg loading. Do not transfer a higher rating from another
runner to these configurations. For lighting, verify the chosen driver, voltage, connector and controls. LHS code
SPLLEDTRANSFORMER50W has a 60W description: the discrepancy needs confirmation, not an assumption.

05 / FINISH, SAFETY AND SERVICE ACCESS
Quooker finishes are model-specific: a finish shown for Fusion is not automatically offered for Flex or Classic Fusion.
Resolve tank space and installation requirements with the current manufacturer guide. Sherwin-Williams finishes on the
LHS page are professional spray finishes: ventilated spray booth, appropriate protective equipment and the product
safety data sheet are essential.

06 / BEFORE THE ORDER
Record decor and edge, sheet length/depth/thickness, cabinet dimensions, drawer system, hinge arrangement, handle
fixing centres, tap model/finish, sink mounting method and lighting components. Copy confirmed product codes only.
Request confirmation for uncertain sizes, code-description conflicts and compatibility. No live stock, price or savings
forecast is supplied here.
